Courtesy hello from the land of beers and chocolates!

The past months my good friend Frank Liefooghe has been painting refuse sacks - in order to sensitize regarding the topic of climat change, waste problems and solutions.

We are currently organizing several expositions - thereby looking for participation from our friends worldwide!

Amateuristic or professional footage, addressing problems or solutions, by the means of movies/pictures/words - we welcome everything.

I write to You on behalf of the organizing team of the biggest cleanup event in the Czech Republic. The name of the event is "Ukliďme svět, ukliďme Česko" which can be translated as "(Let's) Clean the world, clean Czechia". Every year volunteers all around the country go and collect the trash in the nature or in their communities and therefore help the environment The participants are coming from wide spectrum of society, from students, municipalities, firefighters to companies, prisoners or homeless people. This year over 80000 people have already taken part in the project and more are going to in September.

We would like to share with you some videos and pictures from the past cleanups, that might be useful for Your project. For that please see the attachement, the clips might include Czech language but the visual part is interesting as well. If you'd be interested in knowing more specific information, see more material or we could help You in any other way, please let me know.

Your pictures make collecting trash look like fun In two weeks, many of us in Decatur IL will clean up a stretch of the Sangamon River. I will send pictures, though I do not think we will be as artistic as you! Glad you sent this news.

I just googled the Sangamon River. Looks like much adventure and fun. Wish I could be there: in my head I'm already seeing this movie in, under and at the shore of the waterside.

Well, about a dozen of us tackled a stretch of the Sangamon River on Saturday. Here's a photo of the bags of trash we filled. I also saw a doe and her fawn crossing a shallow stretch of water. Two plovers shrieked and chased across the river. And broken glass. So much broken glass! The bags we dragged back for pick-up were not so much full as heavy. Fishermen who sit next on this stretch of river will have a pleasant surprise. I hope we somehow encourage them to pack it in and pack it out.

I"m going to share your latest information with the local Audobon Society and the Community Environmental Council, the two groups that organized our Sangamon River cleanup. Hopefully, they will have more photos to share with you. I will also try to get better shots of the Sangamon River and its polluted areas. This is a great project.
