The Future of the Great Lakes: Who Gets to Decide?

Sandra Lindberg

Here's an article from a great magazine, The Belt, which covers stories in the rustbelt of the nation. Those of you with knowledge of environmental law will be especially interested in this story. FoxConn wants to build a new manufacturing center in eastern Wisconsin and withdraw 7M gallons of water per day from Lake Michigan to make its liquid crystal display screens. It promises to return "four million pre-treated gallons of water" back into the lake every day, but is cagey about what pollutants will accompany that treated water. Jobs or water? What's more important and who gets to decide what happens to the largest body of fresh water in the world? An important issue for us to follow: https://beltmag.com/future-great-lakes-management/
